Triangle shaped wardrobe, the solution for recovering and furnishing corners

Triangle shaped wardrobe

A solution for exploiting and enhancing corners

When faced with unusual room sizes, both in terms of shape and size, there is a need to fit furniture that can make the most of the available space, to create wardrobes or wardrobes for clothes and accessories. Sometimes, if the room is unusual, it is difficult to use off-the-shelf or modular solutions, you resort to custom-designed and made-to-measure elements. The triangle shaped wardrobe is an example of a solution that allows you to enhance and use otherwise unused or small corners.

What the triangle shaped wardrobe looks like

As the term itself implies, it is a walk-in wardrobe with a triangular base shape, therefore made with three sides, and perfect for fitting into corners. The two longest sides are usually arranged perpendicularly, to form an L, and the third closes the triangle, adapting to the size and width possible from the shape of the room. If desired, although it is rare and only happens in extremely special situations, the right angle can be replaced with one of a different width.

Usually, isosceles triangles (with two sides of equal length) or equilateral triangles (all three sides equal) are used as a base, but even in this case there are infinite customised combinations to follow and furnish any type of irregular square footage. If the two perpendicular sides are against the walls, it follows that the doors or access are on the front side. In attics, the triangle shape can also optimise unusual heights: in that case, the two perpendicular sides will occupy one wall and the floor.

Not only in rooms: it can find a place in corridors and entrances

It is a piece of furniture that can be placed in bedrooms, but not only. Often in homes there are spaces such as corridors or entrances that are not utilised as much as they could be: a triangle shaped wardrobe can be placed there. It is the ideal solution not only to avoid wasting precious centimetres, since it is well known that there is never enough storage space for clothes, linens and bed linen, but also to furnish in a pleasant way that corner which would otherwise remain empty and unsightly.

The triangle shaped wardrobe requires functional interior organisation

A triangular-shaped walk-in wardrobe therefore has both practical and aesthetic advantages but, precisely because of its particular shape, it requires some shrewdness in terms of internal organisation and lighting. In fact, one of the difficulties could be access to certain points of the wardrobe, to be overcome with functional and practical ideas for the arrangement of clothes, such as providing corner shelves to make the most of the particular shape of the triangle shaped wardrobe and accessories, such as shelves or hooks, that can be rotated.

Lighting, beware of dark corners

Another detail that is even more important in a triangle shaped wardrobe than in a linear or horseshoe-shaped one is lighting. Some points, due to the shape of the cabinet, may remain in shadow and must therefore be illuminated by strips or spotlights, usually LED. A mirror can serve to give the interior a more airy feeling.

Materials and styles are chosen on the basis of interior design

In terms of materials and styles, a triangular-shaped walk-in wardrobe is no different from any other. Various types of materials can be chosen, from wood, which fits well in both classic and modern rooms, to steel, metal and even PVC or combinations of these.

If you wish to show off the interior, a variant that makes the wardrobe the protagonist and, in the case of a triangle shaped wardrobe, makes it even more original by highlighting its special and functional shape, you can opt for transparent glass or Plexiglas doors.

The choice of materials and shapes depends on the interior design of the room in which it is inserted: the triangle appears to be a modern shape thanks to its clean lines, but the cabinet is suitable for different contexts, where it optimises otherwise lost space.
