The many practical and aesthetic reasons for choosing a metal garden table
There’s a desire to live outdoors!
With the first fine days many people feel the urge to finally think about their outdoor space, where they can spend time in the company of friends and family, relaxing, eating, sunbathing, bathing. Since the pandemic, terracesand gardens have been rediscovered even more, and in recent years their furnishing has been taken care of in the same way as indoors, wanting to combine design with practicality. A piece of furniture that combines the features sought after by most, a good solution for both a balcony and a garden, is a metal garden table.
A metal garden table resists the weather, the first characteristic required of outdoor furniture.
When thinking about how to furnish an outdoor space, in addition to aesthetics (which is still important), you need to think about the fact that you need to choose a material that can withstand the elements. In fact, in most cases, if you do not want to bring them back inside after each use (and that would be really inconvenient…), outdoor furniture such as tables remain outside: they are exposed to the heat of summer, to the blazing sun, to wind, to rain, sometimes to hail.
They must be able to withstand it, maintaining their appearance over the years. Metal is undoubtedly an excellent material, capable of lasting, even in rain or sun.
For outdoor furniture, manufacturers provide protective treatments
Whoever chooses a metal garden table brings home (or rather, to the garden or terrace) a piece of furniture that will not be damaged by water or heat. Outdoor elements, in any case, require protective treatments applied by high-end manufacturers, such as anti-corrosion treatments and varnishes that are particularly resistant to atmospheric agents: these are expedients that allow your table to be an investment over time, without compromising aesthetics.
Which metals are used for garden tables?
In particular, there are certain types of metal, among the most commonly used for outdoor use, such as stainless steel, aluminium or galvanised iron, which are naturally able to withstand bad weather. Aluminium and stainless steel, which is also increasingly used for outdoor kitchens (and beyond), are also corrosion-resistant. Other types of metal that can be used in a metal garden table are wrought iron, ordinary steel, galvanised or painted steel.
Heavy and fireproof, other properties of the metal garden table
But are there reasons, besides strength, that make metal a suitable material for a garden table? Yes, both practical and aesthetic. Metal is low maintenance, just clean the table regularly with soap and water. It is more stable than other materials that can be used for outdoor furniture, such as plastic or light aluminium, which makes them safer in windy conditions, but also more difficult to move. It is fireproof, which is great if a grill is planned next to the table (modern outdoor kitchens have a very small fire risk).
Metal is extremely versatile, that’s why
Aesthetics also play in favour of choosing a metal garden table. First and foremost, it is an extremely variable piece of furniture, due to the wide range of metals, finishes and processes that can be envisaged, as well as possible combinations with other materials and, of course, shapes. You can have tables worked in different ways and painted in any colour, and thus be able to adapt to a classic style or a modern one.
A metal garden table for every style
In the first case, wrought iron is excellent, which brings with it an allure of romanticism, while in the second, aluminium or steel are perfect, which are also widely used in modern interior design. Do not forget that outdoor spaces should now, if possible, be furnished following the style and imprinting of the indoor. But if you do not have metal furniture, it is perfectly fine to use it for outdoors for the characteristics already listed, just follow the style and lines.
