men’s walk in wardrobe and women’s walk-in wardrobes, what are the differences?
men’s walk in wardrobe and women’s walk-in wardrobes, what are the differences?
When one thinks of the wardrobe, one’s thoughts usually run to women’s wardrobe, full of clothes, accessories, shoes, around which to build a walk-in wardrobe that can be functional and perhaps, if desired, display its contents, with in some cases an adjoining dressing and make-up area. But men too, although their clothes are different, need their own space, to be organised in the best possible way. What differences can there be between a men’s walk in wardrobe and a women’s walk-in wardrobe?
A men’s walk in wardrobe is organised starting with the wardrobe
Basically, as mentioned, the wardrobe is different, but the risk is to go by stereotypes. For example, it is usually women who have a lot of shoes, but that does not mean that a man does not have a good number! And who says that it is necessarily women who need more space?
A walk-in wardrobe is a piece of furniture that more than others is built around one’s own needs. In most cases, once the foundations have been laid in terms of structure (extremely flexible and adaptable to the size of the room in which it fits are, for example, the solutions of the tubular and telescopic walk-in wardrobes ), the interior can be organised according to what needs to be stored. If a dynamic arrangement prevails for women, because they often have to deal with clothes of different lengths, this is usually less the case for men’s walk in wardrobe: clothes will have specific lengths for each type, e.g. shirts, trousers, jackets.
Those who use formal clothing that must be hung up will need clothes rails, while those who prefer jumpers and shirts that are folded will need shelves and drawers, even pull-outs. In walk-in wardrobes, specific spaces can be provided for accessories: in women, mainly make-up or perfume, in men, ties or belts. Apart from some differences between men and women, it is the type of clothing that determines the internal organisation of the walk-in closet.
In general, a men’s walk in wardrobe is oriented towards sobriety.
As far as style is concerned, although there is a great deal of room for materials, colours and shapes according to personal taste, a men’s walk-in wardrobe is generally designed to be more functional, with less emphasis on the scenic aspect and a preference for a rational, minimalist order. Men tend to go for a more sober and clean-cut overall look, with a focus on practicality. More neutral colours prevail, in line with a general simplicity, from brown to black to white and grey.
For men, dark wood and steel
This is also noticeable in the materials: the men’s walk in wardrobe often uses dark-coloured wood, or opts for choices oriented towards a minimalist effect such as steel, adding, if you want to add elegance, glass, whether shiny, matt or smoked. It is usually women who highlight the wardrobe with open solutions, but transparent or absent doors are a solution also appreciated by men, especially those who take special care of their clothes and their order.
The women’s walk-in wardrobe is pampering, the men’s walk in wardrobe is functional
So, although there are general lines, the differences lie in each case. What is different is often the function given to the walk-in closet. For the woman, if space is at all possible, it often becomes an area where she can pamper herself, dress quietly, do her make-up, with full-length mirrors and comfortable seating. In a men’s walk in wardrobe this aspect is somewhat diminished, one thinks above all of rational and practical storage areas, with lights that aim to make it easy to find everything and not so much to get dressed and ready.
And how do you divide up the space? It depends on each case
In one room, there is room for both a men’s walk in wardrobe and a woman’s walk-in closet, or a split between the two.
