In many areas, and furnishing is no exception, what makes the difference between a successful result and one that lacks something is not so much the whole but the detail that adds an extra touch. In a living room, for example, as well as carefully choosing the sofa and table, take care not to overlook a useful and design accessory such as a coffee table! An option that brings elegance and fluidity, somewhat different from the usual rectangular or square choices, is the oval coffee table.

But why choose the oval shape rather than the classic square, or even the round one? The oval is by definition soft, and inserting an oval coffee table allows precisely to make the environment less formal, as well as being elegant and refined. What is more fluid and uninterrupted is also the movement around the cabinet itself, given by the absence of corners (which can also be a practical advantage because you do not risk hurting yourself by inadvertently bumping into it and if there are children present).

The shape makes it easier to fit into environments where perhaps a rectangular or square table would not find a place: but be careful, if space is already limited, apart from the lines, be careful not to exaggerate with the dimensions, because the risk is that of having a room that is too full, without empty spaces, and therefore suffocating. Also bear in mind that an oval coffee table gives the impression of enlarging the space more than a square or rectangular one, making it suitable for not immense dimensions.

Oval coffee table with curved or geometric shapes?

As mentioned, an oval coffee table is perfect for both classic living rooms and modern interior design, changing the materials. Even before the style, however, one might ask oneself whether it is suitable in relation to the other furniture: is it better to choose an oval coffee table if you have predominantly softer shapes or if they are geometric and linear?

The answer is in both cases. If you have curved, perhaps angular sofas, it brings continuity to the room, to which you could even add a rug of the same shape. And if the table, for example, is also oval, the game of harmony, with a particular and original union, is done! However, the oval also goes well with a linear or corner sofa without curves, because it brings a softening effect. It also knows how to be the different element within an extremely linear context.

How to adapt it to every style

Having said this, the oval coffee table is a winning choice for different types of rooms. In modern interior design, you can opt for a cabinet that, although oval, has simple lines, essential and without frills, in materials such as metal or, to seek refinement, glass or crystal. In the classic, go for more refinement and decoration. As a material, there can be wood, here too glass (or crystal) is an extremely elegant element, as is marble.
